Lovely serene greatness! As the band mentions, the album "is based on the idea that we feel much more than we can express" and yes, they certainly offer musically more than words coyld ever put together. A marvellous ep, a really great addition to Inner Ear's already excellent catalogue.
Favorite track: Chrysalism feat. Louisa Jones.
Sometimes you feel there’s no meaning
Sometimes you walk down in the water
So many words you forgotten
Could this be Love, could this be Love
I wish I knew the answer
The moment you take has diminished
The moment you take down the water
Secrets just lie with no meaning
Could this be Love, could this be Love
I wish I knew the answer
Sometimes all you need is a way
To be away
Don’t look back
Come on then and take me away
Oh away
Sometimes your dreams have diminished
Somehow I thought
It’d just take a moment
Did I deny to be by your side?
Could this be Love, could this be Love
I wish I knew the answer
( A woman sits by the harbour on November the 13th.
She has no more tears to shed, she looks across the sea
observing how the seagulls intertwine with the waves.
She is trying to forget, to overcome. A man approaches
her, he sits beside her on the rock.
They say: )
- You gave them so much
- For Nothing
- You yielded too far
- And I got Nothing
- They should be, honestly, over the moon
- I gave him my Heart
And now it's crushing
But sometimes a man
Is only lusting
- Like a dream, you're spiralling
- Far into a Star you shall return
Promise to never let me down again
- And now you belong
- Into something
- I am a wave that's everlasting
- Stand by me, honestly
- Far into a Star I shall return
You promise between two waves
- An now that this world
- Is ending
- Deep down my Love
- We are descending
- I am Free finally -
A heart beats too fast
Climbing the overpass
Gone are the nights but still
The night is overcast
We go round and round
To kill the thing we Love
Won’t you tell me how you feel
Now that the night is overcast
The night is overcast…
Descending a cloud on your own
You hear the wind go . . .
This time you’re on your own
This the dream you’ve always waited for
Please, please be still
Walk with me
Gracefully
And I’ll be gone
Walk with me
Somehow you need an end
Will you return to...
Let’s not, let’s not pretend
There is a place you’ve always left behind
Please, please be still….
Walk with me
Gracefully
And I’ll be gone
Silently
I whisper thee
Oh love
Finally
Somehow there is an end,
don’t condescend
You’ll feel better in the morning
Waiting for a dream,
the one that feels
The one that feels as if you Love me
Lonely is the room, will you escape?
But it’s the window you’re ignoring.
They say Love can never be discreet
Come to me as a friend,
don’t condescend
Let’s just decide this in the morning
You see that people cry,
you wonder why
A simple touch can be, a
touch can be disarming
They say Love can never be discreet

Electric Litany return with their new EP, “Sonder”
Inspired by graphic designer and director John Koenig's project The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows, “Sonder” is a musical description of certain emotions, which have not yet acquired a name, and is based on the idea that we feel much more than we can express. It consists of 5 tracks, which deal with 5 emotions so specific that our language does not yet have the words to contain them. One of them is sonder (the momentary realization that every random passer-by lives a life as vivid and complex as yours), which is also the title of the record.
The EP was written amid lockdown in London. Electric Litany decided to try a different creative process by putting some self-limitations. Their original idea was to write music for sleep. While a second limitation was to write the ideas on the piano and record them over two days without any rehearsals. And so it happened, Alexandros Miaris wrote some drafts on the piano and then they booked the Fish Factory Studio for two days, without hearing the tracks not even once as demos. They found again the essence of live recording and kept the first 1-2 takes of the tracks with mistakes and improvisations, without any amendments. They are completely satisfied with the final form of the EP "The result feels good and honest and it is one of the few times we can listen to our own music."
Sonder’s cover artwork has a story of its own. They chanced upon an old postcard from the 1970s depicting a coast in Brazil and liked it so much that they decided to find out more about it. Their research led them to photographer Carlos Roberto Rocha, who dug into his archives and found the original photo that is the key element in Sonder's cover. Each copy of the EP is unique as the stamp and seals have been added by hand, replicating the now rare art of personal correspondence via traditional post.
Released on Special Vinyl Edition and Digital EP via Inner Ear.

Another devastatingly beautiful batch of indie rock confessionals from Ontario singer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Linnea Siggelkow. Bandcamp New & Notable Apr 28, 2024
We've waited a long time for Thee Holy Strangers' second album! But yes, it was worth the wait, the band delivered a sophomore made of gold. Rocky, dusty gold, mind you, crude yet pure and beautiful! This is an indie-rock anthem with the distinguish americana style that the band established from the debut. It seems to have a conceptual flow and works really like a time-stopping spell. Great job, it's such a pleasure to hear THS music once again! BoneWalker
